Here are the things people ask me most. If yours isn't here — just ask me directly. I'm genuinely happy to answer.
Booking
No — Vale Ink Studio is appointment-only. Every piece I make is drawn specifically for the person, which means I need time to prepare properly. Walk-in culture doesn't suit the kind of work I do. Send me an inquiry and we'll find a time that works.
Fill in the inquiry form. Tell me your idea, placement, rough size, and when you're free. I'll reply within a few days to talk through details. Once we've agreed on the direction, I'll confirm your slot and take a deposit.
Not at all. Some of the best pieces I've made came from messages that said "I want something for my grandmother but I don't know what yet." That's enough. I'm good at asking the right questions. Come with a feeling — we'll find the shape together.
Yes — please do. References aren't about copying something. They're about communicating visual tone. A photo, another tattoo you admire, a piece of fabric, a screenshot of something you can't name — all useful. The more you give me, the better I understand what you're drawn to.
Pricing
Pricing depends on size, complexity, and placement. I don't work from a price list because every piece is different. I'll give you a clear quote once I understand what you're after — before you commit to anything. Small pieces typically start from €120. No surprises on the day.
Sometimes — it depends on what's there. Coverups require more design thought and usually a bolder approach, which doesn't always suit my style. Send me a photo of the existing tattoo in your inquiry and I'll give you an honest answer. I'd rather say no than do something I can't do justice.
The Experience
Yes — though "hurt" doesn't quite cover the range of sensations. Some areas feel like light scratching. Some feel more intense. Placement matters: ribs, inner arms, feet, and areas near bone tend to be more uncomfortable; outer thighs, upper arms, and shoulders are generally easier. We'll pace it together and I'll check in with you regularly.
Eat a proper meal beforehand. This is the most important thing — low blood sugar makes everything harder. Come hydrated. Get a good night's sleep. Wear loose clothing with easy access to the placement area. No alcohol for 24 hours before (it thins the blood). Moisturise the area in the days leading up.
Yes — one person is welcome. The studio is private and small, so I ask one person maximum. Having support in the room is completely fine, especially for first-timers or emotional pieces. Just mention it in your inquiry so I can expect them.
Aftercare & Other Questions
I'll give you a printed sheet on the day. In brief: clean it with mild unscented soap, apply thin unscented balm 2–3 times a day, don't pick the flaking skin, stay out of the sun, avoid swimming for two weeks. No scratching — even when it itches. Full details on the Process page.
No. Adults 18 and over only, no exceptions. I'll ask for ID if there's any doubt.
I don't do colour realism, neo-traditional, or large-scale Japanese work — those styles require a different speciality and I'd rather be honest than attempt something outside my skill set. My strengths are fine line, blackwork, florals, ornamental, and script. If you're after something that doesn't fit, I'll happily point you toward artists I respect.
